International media arts and history exhibition - opening
Open: 30 June - 22 August 1999

The Perspektiva series of events is the exhibition of the Soros Foundation's C3 Cultural and Communications Centre, and held in association with the Budapest Art Gallery. In terms of its dimensions, it is C3's biggest event since the 1996 "The butterfly effect" exhibition.

Consisting of an exhibition, symposium, film series and large-scale network project on the subject of international media art and history, Perspektiva is also linked to the programme of a UNESCO conference held in Hungary presenting the links between art and science, and its co-sponsor is the OMFB (National Technical Development Board) IKTA programme.

A unique network project even by European standards, Párhuzamos Perspektivák (Parallel Perspectives) affords access to events in another three cities and media centres: in the Ars Electronica centre in Linz, in the V2 Lab in Rotterdam, and in the ZKM in Karlsruhe, via wide-bandwidth ATM links.

The Perspektiva exhibition presents some of the Hungarian and international media works produced in C3 over recent years, and some new works created especially for this project.
